Winter is the most beautiful season in Lapland. The swirling mists of snowflakes eating the colours and blending sky into the earth. The days are short but can display spectacular sunrises and sunsets over the frozen river and lakes.
Deer come to feed by our cottage and reindeer wander the streets. Elk are never far away and the smell of wood fires permeate the village. Black grouse will explode from snow-drifts as you walk past, clattering skyward like a noisy feathered football.
